Student Events & Activities

Students participate in 2015 Annual Ring activities

Student Services offers numerous events and activities to enhance and promote education, networking, career and employer opportunities, family and student connections as well as professional development and chances to meet with college leaders. With events and activities scheduled all year long, there is always something exciting happening in Student Services!

Annual Ring

Annual Ring is the College's traditional welcome event for incoming undergraduate students.  It offers new College of Forestry students the opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow students, faculty and staff of the College. Events vary from year to year, but we always have food, games, prizes, and informative and recreational events at the Forestry Club Cabin in the McDonald-Dunn Forest.

Annual Ring is held during Welcome Week prior to Fall term. Invitations are mailed to incoming students around Labor Day. You can contact the Student Services Office for more information about Annual Ring!

CoF Open House

Twice a year the CoF opens its doors to welcome our forestry family!  During Fall Family Weekend and Spring Family Weekend, our students and their families have the opportunity to learn about the exciting news and recent happenings in our College!  We hope to see you there!

Career Development Center Drop In Hours

Students who would like to speak with a Career Development Center (CDC) representative about resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and other career related topics are invited to drop by the SLC during the CDC Drop-In hours. Stop by the Student Services Office for the current CDC Drop-In dates and hours.

Employer Connections

Federal & State Employment Workshops

We offer a two-part federal jobs workshop.   Part one, or “How to Apply for a Federal Job”,  includes a look at USA Jobs navigation, how to apply for federal positions, and tips and tricks to bring out the best in students’ applications. Part two consists of a panel and networking event.

A state employment workshop series is a collaboration with the CDC (see above) and the College of Agricultural Sciences.  A variety of state government employees from Oregon and Washington, including Human Resources representatives, address topics related to the application process for state jobs.

Employer Information Nights
Employers are invited to visit the College of Forestry and make presentations to students during Employer Information Nights.  These sessions are a chance for students to learn about career paths and opportunities from employers representing the broad range of Forestry, Natural Resources, Recreation Resource Management and Renewable Materials.

Upcoming Employer Information Nights are posted here

Coffee With Randy

College of Forestry students are encouraged to stop by the SLC for Coffee With Randy.  Randy Rosenberger, the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies makes time to meet with CoF students who would like to share ideas, concerns or just talk about current events in the college. Coffee with Randy is a great time to make your voice heard to the CoF leadership team. Check with Student Services for Coffee With Randy dates and times.
