Student Events & Activities

Students participate in 2015 Annual Ring activities

The Student Resources & Engagement offers numerous events and activities to enhance and promote education, networking, career and employer opportunities, family and student connections as well as professional development and chances to meet with college leaders. With events and activities scheduled all year long, there is always something exciting happening!

Annual Ring

Annual Ring is the College's traditional welcome event for incoming undergraduate students.  It offers incoming College of Forestry students the opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow new students, and engage with current students and student club representatives. Events vary from year to year, but we always have food, games, prizes, and informative and recreational events at the Forestry Club Cabin in the McDonald-Dunn Forest.

Annual Ring is held during Welcome Week prior to Fall term. Invitations are mailed and emailed to incoming students around Labor Day. You can contact the Student Resources & Engagement Office for more information about Annual Ring!

CoF Open House (on hiatus while we're housed in Snell Hall)

Twice a year the CoF opens its doors to welcome our forestry family!  During Fall Family Weekend and Spring Family Weekend, our students and their families have the opportunity to learn about the exciting news and recent happenings in our College!  We hope to see you there!

Career Development Center Drop In Hours

Students who would like to speak with a Career Development Center (CDC) representative about resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and other career related topics are invited to drop by the SLC during the CDC Drop-In hours. Stop by the Student Resources & Engagement Office for the current CDC Drop-In dates and hours.  Current CDC drop in hours will be published in the Fernhopper Blog.

Employer Connections

Federal & State Employment Workshops

Workshops and presentations to help prepare and inform students about applying to federal and state workshops are offered. Federal and State employment workshops are offered in collaboration with the Career Development Center. Occasionally we partner with the College of Agricultural Sciences and the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences to offer these opportunities to students.

Federal and State employment workshops include looks at USA Jobs navigation, how to apply for federal positions, tips on creating resumes that will make it through the screening process and how to your experiences can help you get noticed. Many events include question and answer panels and networking opportunities.

Employer Recruitment & Networking Opportunties

Employers are invited to visit the College of Forestry to connect with students throughout the year. The SAF Job Fair and Career Development Days are excellent opportunities for students to explore career paths and opportunities from a broad range of employeres. Employers also send current job and internship opportunities to the CoF Jobs Page all year.

Career Development Days

We are working on a new event for Spring term 2018!   CoF Career Development Days is tentatively scheduled for April 17-19, 2017.
This event will included a variety of professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and employer presentations. Please check back for more information as the academic year begins!

Lunch with Leadership

College of Forestry students are invited to attend a scheduled lunch to meet and talk with Dr. Randy Rosenberger, Associate Dean of Student Success, to share ideas, concerns or just talk about current events happening in the college. Lunch with Leadership is a great time to make your voice heard to the CoF leadership team. Check with the Student Resources & Engagement Office for Lunch with Leadership dates and times.
